The exhibition “From Evin with Love” features over 60 works of art and handicrafts created by women at Evin Prison in Tehran – one of the Iranian regime’s most notorious prisons. The paintings, woodwork, dolls, rugs, poems, and letters – created between 2010 and 2024 under the conditions of incarceration – were produced by women who were imprisoned for their advocacy for women’s and human rights, social and environmental causes, or because of their religious affiliation. Their works are not only testimonies of survival but also acts of resistance – and expressions of care, solidarity, and hope. They bear witness to the psychological and physical violence to which the prisoners are subjected, and at the same time to their creativity, courage, and self-assertion. A special focus is placed on the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.
Accompanying the exhibition, a diverse program of events – including lectures, panel discussions, guided tours, meet-and-greets, and music – invites visitors to engage in conversation about feminist struggles, decolonial and (queer) feminist memory culture, and international solidarity.
